Harms of Food Dye!

Food dye can be extremly harmful. Different kinds of food dyes have been known to cause issues in rats and mice. Red 40 is known for causing cancer and Blue #2 cause tumors in mice. Many experiments show that food dye has worsened ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has considered banning it and even held numerous meetings on this subject. In 2007, many European countries have banned artificial food colorings. They linked it to behavioral issues. Any remaining food dyes have to have a warning label. If there's enough proof for European countries to ban fake food dyes, why isn't there enough for us. Do you really want to eat something that is banned in parts of Europe? The top 8 dyes are blue #1, blue #2, citrus red #3, green #3, red #3, red #40, yellow #5, and yellow #6. Blue #1 causes kidney tumors in mice. Blue #2 causes statistically significant incline of tumors in male rats. Citrus red #3 can cause bladder tumors in mice and is toxic to rodents at modest levels. Green #3 caused a signifcant increase ofin bladder and testes tumors in male rats. Red #3 thyroid carcinogen or a cancer to your thyriods and is prohibited in cosmetics. Red #40 causes cancer and is the most widely used food dye. Yellow #5 can sometimes cause severe hypersensitivity reactions. Yellow #6 is known to be responsible for adrenal tumors and occassional hypersensitivity. All of these could worsen hyperactivity.

What's in it?

Food dye is made of lab chemicals and petro chemicals. Petro chemicals are what's found in tar pits. Do you really want to be eating that? I wouldn't!! That is pretty much all food dye is!

Where Can You Find Artificial Food Dyes?

Where can you find it? Well, pretty much anything you eat contains fake food dye. Here's a challenge.... Go through all your food and look at the ingredients. I bet almost all the foods in your house contain food dye, unless you buy all organic.

Organic Dyes!!

You may be asking what can you use as an alternative... well, there are always organic dyes. Organic dyes are the same as the fake dyes but are far healthier. The fake dyes can cause differnet kinds of cancers, tumors, and other medical problems. Another problem that food dyes have been known to cause is ADD and ADHD. It won't create ADHD or ADD but if someone already has it artificial dyes can severely increase it. Organic dyes have nutritional value and some even prevent aforementioned disorders. You may be wondering where you can find these natural dyes. Well, you can try organic markets, but one way to get them is to make your own. It's very simple. For red you can use beets or cranberries. For blue just use blueberries and water. Yellow you may use yellow onion skins and water. There is plenty more. You can look it up on the internet. If you are skeptical about whether this works or not do this project. Make a red velvet cake useing fake dyes, then make another useing organic dyes. I did this myself and the cake tasted great!!!
